Dubai Courts case inquiry: how to check a case and its next hearing

Where to look up a case in Dubai, what you need before you search, why a case sometimes does not appear, and how a law firm keeps every hearing date and outcome current when it is following dozens of cases at once.

Lexorii is practice management software for UAE law firms. This page sends you to the official court services for the lookup itself; we are not affiliated with Dubai Courts, and their screens change, so their website is always the authority.

The short answer

  • Use the official Dubai Courts case inquiry on dc.gov.ae. Nothing else is authoritative.
  • Have the case number and year exactly as they appear on the court paper, and know which court the case is in now.
  • A criminal matter that is still with the Public Prosecution is checked on the prosecution’s own site, not on Dubai Courts.
  • Abu Dhabi cases are on the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department; DIFC cases are on the DIFC Courts. They are separate systems.

1. What you need before you search

A case inquiry is only as good as the reference you type in. Take it from the court paper itself, a notice, a judgment or a receipt, not from memory or an email subject line.

  • The case number and its year. The same number can exist in different years and different courts.
  • The court the case is in now. A case that went from first instance to appeal or cassation, or into execution, carries a new reference at each step.
  • The case type. Civil, commercial, labour, personal status and execution matters are filed differently.

2. Checking a case on Dubai Courts

  1. Open the case inquiry service on dc.gov.ae.
  2. Pick the court or case category the case belongs to.
  3. Enter the case number and year exactly as printed on the court paper.
  4. Search, then read where the case stands and the date of the next session if one is set.

Write the result down with the date you checked it. A hearing can be adjourned or brought forward, so a lookup is a snapshot, not a promise.

3. Which portal for which case

“No results” often means the right number in the wrong system. A matter can sit with the prosecution before it reaches court, and Abu Dhabi and the DIFC run their own courts.

4. If the case does not appear

  • Check every digit and the year against the court paper.
  • Try the court the case moved to: appeal, cassation or execution.
  • A newly registered case can take a short time before it is searchable.
  • Check the prosecution, Abu Dhabi or DIFC portals above.
  • If you have a lawyer on the case, ask them: the firm holds the full reference.

5. For law firms: one lookup is easy, forty are a system

A litigation team in Dubai rarely has one case. It has dozens, each with its own number, court and next date, and the court diary is only right if someone updates it after every session. That step is where firms slip: the adjournment is noted in a notebook, the next date never reaches the calendar, the client is told late, and the partner learns about it from the client.

What a reliable court diary needs

  • One owner for every hearing, named before the day, not after.
  • The outcome recorded the same day: held, adjourned, reserved for judgment, judgment issued.
  • An adjournment that creates the next hearing with its reminders, instead of a second manual entry.
  • Someone chased when a past hearing still has no outcome.
  • A client update that goes out only after a lawyer has checked it.

This is what Lexorii does for UAE firms. Paste the court notice, upload the PDF or take a photo of it, and Lexorii proposes the date, the outcome and the next hearing on the right case. Nothing is saved until a lawyer confirms it. Recording an adjournment creates the next sitting on the calendar with its reminders carried forward, a “not recorded yet” list catches hearings nobody wrote up, and the client sees the case stage on their portal without your internal notes. All of it works in Arabic and English.

Lexorii does not connect to the Dubai Courts system, and does not pretend to: there is no court API for firms. The notice you already receive is the input, and the court record stays the authority.

Questions

How do I check a Dubai Courts case online?

Open the case inquiry service on the official Dubai Courts website (dc.gov.ae), enter the case number and year exactly as they appear on your court documents, choose the right court or case category, and search. The result shows where the case stands and its next session when one is scheduled.

Why does my case not appear in the Dubai Courts inquiry?

The usual reasons are a mistyped number or year, the wrong court or category, a case that is registered so recently it is not searchable yet, or a matter that sits with another authority, such as the Public Prosecution, the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department or the DIFC Courts. Check the number against the court paper first, then the other portals.

Is a DIFC Courts case shown on the Dubai Courts website?

No. The DIFC Courts are a separate common-law court system with their own registry and website. A DIFC case is checked with the DIFC Courts.

How do law firms keep track of many Dubai Courts hearings?

Most firms keep a court diary in a spreadsheet or a shared calendar and update it from court notices by hand. The failure point is the step after each hearing: the adjournment and the next date have to be written down, the client told and the diary corrected. Practice management software such as Lexorii turns each notice into the next hearing on the case and keeps asking until the outcome is recorded.

Does Lexorii connect to the Dubai Courts system?

No. Dubai Courts does not offer firms an API, and Lexorii does not log in to the court system on your behalf. Lexorii reads the notice you already have, a pasted text, a PDF or a photo, proposes the update, and saves nothing until a lawyer confirms it. The court record stays the authority.
